وانتظم — and fell into place. A past-tense verb 'fell into order / lined up' with wa- joined on front. The wa- opens a new clause linking to the scene. The verb's pattern carries a reflexive 'arranged-themselves' sense. Its subject, the verse-openings, is named just after.
