How to say “foolishness” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
غَيْرُ أَنَّ بَعْضَ الْحُمْقِ أَهْوَنُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ
However, some foolishness is less harmful than others.
الْحُمْقِ — foolishness. This is the possessed half of 'some of the folly', so it takes the (genitive) ending; its al- makes it definite and abstract. The two nouns side by side build 'some of the folly' with no separate 'of'. It names the whole that the 'some' is a portion of.
