Arabic vocabulary
How to say “forgive” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَٱغْفِرْ فِدَاءٌ لَكَ مَا اِقْتَفَيْنَا وَثَبِّّتْ الْأَقْدَامَ إِنْ لَاقَيْنَا
So forgive us; let what we have followed be a ransom for you, and make our steps firm if we meet.
فَٱغْفِرْ — so forgive. The opening fa- ties this plea to the supplication before it as its consequence, 'so then forgive'. The rest is a one-person command, the bare verb stem with 'you' understood, addressed to God in petition, so connector and command sit in one word.
