  تَصَدَّقْتُ — I gave charity. The -tu ending is the built-in 'I' that did the action; Arabic marks a first-person past subject with this suffix instead of a separate word. The verb's doubled pattern also gives it a reflexive-charitable sense, 'I gave of myself in charity'.

  O Allah, were it not for You, we would not have been guided, we would not have given charity, and we would not have prayed.
