Arabic vocabulary
How to say “price” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قال لأني تصدقت بعشرة آلاف درهم، فثمنها دار في الجنة
He said: Because I gave charity of ten thousand dirhams; the price of it is a house in Paradise.
فَثَمَنُهَا — so the price of it. Three things ride on this one word: fa- 'so/therefore' tying it to the reasoning, the noun 'price', and the attached -ha 'its'. That -ha reaches back to the house mentioned earlier, telling you whose price this is. Tracking what an attached pronoun points to is part of reading Arabic.
