Arabic vocabulary
How to say “he says” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ الآخَرُ لَكِنِّي مَعَ رَجُلٍ إِنْ أَكَلَ لَمْ يَسْمِ اللَّهَ فَأَكَلْتُ أَنَا وَهُوَ جَمِيعًا
The other said, 'But I am with a man; if he eats without saying the name of God, then I and he eat together.'
يَسْمْ — he says. A present-tense verb forced into the cut-off (jussive) shape by the 'did not' before it, so together they mean 'he did not name (God)'. The clipped ending is the trigger's mark on the verb.
