Arabic vocabulary
How to say “hereafter” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وإن قرأته للفرجة لا للحجة، وللدنيا لا للآخرة،
If you study it for leisure, not for proof, and for this world, not the hereafter,
لِلْآخِرَةِ — for the hereafter. The 'li-' marks the rejected purpose — 'for the hereafter.' Under the 'not': you read it NOT for your afterlife. In the -i form. Reading logic for spectacle and worldly gain, not for proof or the hereafter — the wasted effort the next sentence condemns.
From: Revelation Over Philosophy →ويعلم أن في القيام به سعادة الدنيا والآخرة
And he knows that fulfilling it brings happiness in this world and the hereafter.
وَالْآخِرَةِ — and the hereafter. The connector 'and' fused to a second owner, 'and the hereafter', joined to 'this world' so the happiness spans both. It shares the genitive of the 'of' pairing and is made definite by its 'the'.
