Arabic vocabulary
How to say “his companion” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَهُوَ أَنْصَرُ لِصَاحِبِهِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ بِلَا عِدَّةٍ وَلَا عَدَدٍ
And he is more supportive of his companion than other men, without any limit and without any number.
لِصَاحِبِهِ — for his companion. The li- here marks the beneficiary ('supportive of/to its owner'); it is the link this helping word takes. The noun it rides is 'companion/owner' carrying -hi ('his'), so li- governs that possessed noun into the genitive. So it names who patience helps: its possessor.
