أقسام ١ منهم من يحتج بأنه على تصحيح مذهبه وتقوية خاطره مع أنه لا يغلب على ظنه أن ذلك هو المراد بالآية وإنما يقصد الظهور على خصمه
Categories: 1 - Among them are those who argue to support their position and reinforce their view, even though they do not truly believe it is the intended meaning of the verse, but rather they aim to triumph over their opponent.
يَقْصِدُ — intends. 'he aims / intends' — the verb his real motive hangs on. Under the 'rather, only' before it, his single genuine purpose is about to be exposed: not truth but triumph.

2 - And among them are those who aim for good, and cite an Ayah without clear evidence for what they claim.
يَقْصِدُ — he aims. 'aims / intends' — but here the aim is good, as the object shows. Unlike the first type's craving to win, this one's intent is to call people to something beneficial; the fault lies elsewhere.
