الْخَلِيلُ — the intimate friend. A noun carrying 'the' used as an honorific title beside the prophet's name, 'the intimate friend'. It stands in apposition, renaming the same person it follows, and shares his subject ending. It adds a descriptive title rather than a new sentence element.
