Arabic vocabulary
How to say “is lifted” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يُغْشَى عَلَيْهِ، فَيُرْفَعُ فِي الْأَذْرُعِ إِلَيْهِ،
And among them someone faints, and he is then lifted in the arms to him.
فَيُرْفَعُ — then he is lifted. The connector fa- 'then/so' fused to a passive verb. Fa- marks this lifting as the next step that follows the fainting, and the verb is passive: he is lifted by others, with the lifters left unnamed and the vowels inside the verb signalling the passive role.
