Arabic vocabulary
صَبَابَة is how you say “longing” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
وَلَو كنت عُذْري الصبابة لم تكن بطينا وأنساك الْهوى كَثْرَة الْأكل
And if you were excused in passionate longing, you would not have been gluttonous, and love would have made you forget excessive eating.
الصَّبَابَةَ — passionate longing. 'Tender passion / love-sickness', here an accusative of specification — 'Udhri [as to] passion', narrowing in what respect the description holds. The accusative is the mark of this 'in respect of' role.
