How to say “marry” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَى عَمِّهَا عَمْرُو بْنِ أَسَدٍ لِيُزَوِّجَهَا فَحَضَرَ،
She sent to her uncle Amr ibn Asad to have him marry her, and he came.
لِيُزَوِّجَهَا — to have him marry her. The purpose-particle li- ('in order to') fused to a verb ('marry her off'), with the suffix '-ha' ('her') attached as object. The li- forces the verb into the subjunctive shape and marks the reason she sent for him: so that he would marry her off.
