Arabic vocabulary
How to say “more knowledgeable” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ مَا الْمَسْئُولُ عَنْهَا بِأَعْلَمَ مِنْ السَّائِلِ
He said, 'The one being asked does not know more about it than the one asking.'
بِأَعْلَمَ — does not know more. A comparative form 'more knowing' carried by bi-, the preposition the negation 'is not' uses to attach its predicate. The word is the elative 'more...' pattern, so the sentence reads 'is not more knowing'. The bi- here is grammatical scaffolding for the negated comparison, not a literal 'with'.
