Arabic vocabulary
How to say “neighbors” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِي جِيرَانًا يَسْرِقُونَ أَوْزِي
He said, "O Prophet of God, I have neighbors who steal my geese."
جِيرَانًا — neighbors. A plural indefinite noun, neighbors, not the neighbors, in the object-style case imposed by the emphasis particle that heads the clause. In the 'I have neighbors' frame it names the thing possessed. The plural and indefinite endings together mark it as several unspecified people.
