Arabic vocabulary
How to say “night” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَتَخَاذَلُوا وَبَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ الرِّيحَ
So they faltered, and God sent the wind upon them that night.
اللَّيْلَةَ — night. This feminine noun works as a 'when' adverbial, fixing the time of the sending, and it takes the object-style ending Arabic uses for such 'on that night' adverbs. The pointing-word before it makes it that particular night. It locates the event in time.
