Arabic vocabulary
How to say “prevent” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
الَّتِي تَعُوقُهُ عَنْ سَيْرِهِ عَلَى هَذَا الصِّرَاطِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ،
which prevents him from walking on this straight path,
تَعُوقُهُ — prevents him. A present-tense verb ('hinders him') with its 'it/they' subject built in and an attached object -hu ('him') on the end. So doer and object are partly in one word. The -hu points back to the servant, the one being hindered.
