Arabic vocabulary
How to say “promises you” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَيَأْمُرُكُمْ بِالْفَحْشَاءِ وَاللَّهُ يَعِدُكُمْ مَغْفِرَةً مِنْهُ وَفَضْلًا
He urges you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty.
يَعِدُكُمْ — promises you. A present-tense verb, 'promises', with a plural 'you' object fused on the end. Its subject is God, carried over from the name just before, so no fresh subject is named. The verb deliberately echoes Satan's 'promises' to sharpen the contrast between the two promises.
