Arabic vocabulary
How to say “quick discernment” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ يَدُلُّ عَلَى فِطْنَةِ إِسْمَاعِيلِ أَيْضًا
This hadith also shows Isma'il's astuteness.
فِطْنَةِ — astuteness. An abstract quality-noun standing as the thing pointed at by the verb-plus-preposition before it, so it takes the post-preposition case. It also opens a possessive chain: it is the first half of an 'X of Y' link, and the following name will own it. Because it is owned by what follows, it stays bare of its own 'the' and draws its definiteness from that owner.
