How to say “recite” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِذَا فَرَغُوا تَلَتْ طَائِفَةٌ أُخْرَى عَلَى عَدَدِهِمْ آيَةً ثَانِيَةً،
When they finished, another group recited a second verse according to their number.
تَلَت — recited. A past-tense verb 'recited' in the feminine singular, agreeing with the feminine subject (the group) that follows it. With the verb before its subject, it takes the singular even though a whole group recites; the feminine matches the noun's gender. It opens the main clause.
