How to say “their number” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِذَا فَرَغُوا تَلَتْ طَائِفَةٌ أُخْرَى عَلَى عَدَدِهِمْ آيَةً ثَانِيَةً،
When they finished, another group recited a second verse according to their number.
عَدَدِهِمْ — their number. A noun 'number' with the 'their' suffix attached, governed by the preceding preposition so it carries the genitive. The possessor points back to the group. It names the count the second verse is matched 'according to', tying the recitation to their tally.
