How to say “sake/face” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
حين تقول بِسمِ الله، فالمعنى أبدأ عملي مُستعينًا بالله، وأجعل نتيجته لوجهه
When you say, 'In the name of Allah,' the meaning is: I begin my work seeking assistance from Allah, and I dedicate its outcome for His sake.
لِوَجْهِهِ — for His sake. 'for His face, sake' — 'li' of purpose plus 'face' plus 'His'. 'Face' is idiom for the person's own sake; the chain means 'purely for Him'.
From: Turning Daily Words into Worship →من ذَلِك الْوَجْه كَمَا استفاض فِي الصِّحَاح وَغَيرهَا
In this regard, as has been widely narrated in the Sahih collections and others.
الوَجْهِ — the aspect. This noun carries 'the' and sits in the genitive because the preposition 'from' governs it. It names the aspect being considered, completing the phrase opened by the demonstrative.
