How to say “action” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِذَا فُهِمَ تَعَذَّرَ وُجُودُ الْعَمَلِ بِهِ
And even if it is understood, acting upon it is difficult.
الْعَمَلِ — application. 'al-' = 'the'; the 'of' word (genitive).
From: When Desire Exceeds Its Bounds →حين تقول بِسمِ الله، فالمعنى أبدأ عملي مُستعينًا بالله، وأجعل نتيجته لوجهه
When you say, 'In the name of Allah,' the meaning is: I begin my work seeking assistance from Allah, and I dedicate its outcome for His sake.
عَمَلِي — my work. 'my work' — 'amal' with 'my' attached, the object of 'I begin'. Possession carried by the suffix.
From: Turning Daily Words into Worship →ثم تضعُ جبينك حيثُ تواضعُ القلوب، فيولد من التسبيح خشوعٌ وعمل
Then you place your forehead where hearts show humility, and devotion and action are born from glorification.
وَعَمَلٌ — and action. 'and action', a second nominative subject joined by 'wa' — also born from the glorifying. Inner devotion and outward deed paired as twin offspring.
From: Turning Daily Words into Worship →توحيدٌ يُفرِد اللهَ بالقصد، وتعظيمٌ يُثمرُ الخشية، واستحضارُ عملٍ يُهذِّبُ الجوارح
Tawhid that singles out Allah in purpose, glorification that produces awe, and mindfulness of action that refines the limbs.
عَمَلٍ — action. 'a deed', genitive partner of 'summoning-to-mind', indefinite — 'mindfulness OF action'. What one keeps before the mind's eye.
From: Turning Daily Words into Worship →وأبعدهم مِنْهُ من جهل عبوديته فِي هَذِه الْمَرَاتِب فعطلها علما وَعَملا
And the furthest from Him are those who are ignorant of their servitude in these ranks and neglect it in knowledge and action.
وَعَمَلًا — and action. A second accusative of respect joined by 'and': 'and as to deed'. The pair says he failed the servitude both in understanding and in practice, the two respects together.
From: Accepting God's Decree →إيش يُعمل بك؟
What can be done with you?
يُعمَلُ — can be done. A present-tense passive verb 'is done/can be done'. The passive comes from the inner vowel pattern, not a helper word, so the action has no named doer - the question asks what could be done, by anyone. It pairs with the fronted 'what' to make 'what can be done [to you]', leaving the agent open.
