Arabic vocabulary
How to say “secure” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كم مطمئن في عزته أخذه بعزته بياتا،
How many, secure in their pride, did He take by His might overnight,
مُطْمَئِنٍّ — secure. This indefinite singular noun is what the exclamatory 'how many' counts, and that construction requires exactly this singular genitive shape after it. So the form is dictated by the 'how many' before it, conveying 'how many a secure one', though English expects a plural.
