Arabic vocabulary
How to say “seriousness” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
الَّذِي يَكْسِبُهَا نَشَاطًا لِلْجِدِّ فَكَأَنَّهَا مِنَ الْجِدِّ لَمْ تَزَلْ،
which gives it a zeal for seriousness, so that it seems to have always been serious.
لِلْجِدِّ — toward seriousness. One unit fusing a preposition 'for / toward' onto a definite noun. It marks the direction of the vigor, 'toward seriousness', so the li- assigns the goal role and the al- makes that goal a specific known one.
