مَثَلُ الَّذِي يَعْمَلُ لِلرِّيَاءِ وَالسُّمْعَةِ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي يَمْلَأُ كِيسَهُ حَصًى،
'The example of one who acts for showing off and seeking praise is like the example of one who fills his bag with stones,
لِلرِّيَاءِ — for showing off. The attached front prefix is a 'for/to' preposition that forces the noun after it into the (genitive) form. It marks the motive of the acting: the deed is aimed at being seen. The preposition and the 'the' have merged onto one written word.
