Arabic vocabulary
بْنٌ is how you say “son of” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ
From Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:
بْنِ — son of. Placed between two names, 'son of' ties a man to his father and takes the same -i ending as the name before it, because it describes that name. Arabic strings 'X son of Y' with this one connective doing all the linking.
