Arabic vocabulary
How to say “stumble” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ جَعَلَ الصَّبْرَ جَوَّادًا لا يَكْبُو
Now then, God, Glorified be He, has made patience a steed that does not stumble.
يَكْبُو — stumble. A present-tense verb 'it stumbles', with its 'it' subject (the steed) inside, negated by the preceding 'not' to give 'that does not stumble'. The clause qualifies the indefinite 'steed' from the previous word. So the metaphor is a tireless mount.
