Arabic vocabulary
How to say “a steed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ جَعَلَ الصَّبْرَ جَوَّادًا لا يَكْبُو
Now then, God, Glorified be He, has made patience a steed that does not stumble.
جَوَّادًا — a steed. An indefinite noun 'a steed', the second object of 'made': what patience is rendered into. Being the resulting-state object it takes the object ending, and its indefiniteness fits the fresh metaphor. A describing clause follows to extend the image.
