How to say “the years” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَٱمْتَنَعَتْ مِّنِّي حَتَّى أَلَمَّتْ بِهَا سَنَةٌ مِنَ السِّنِينَ،
So she refused from me until a year of hardship befell her.
السِّنِينَ — the years. A plural noun made definite by the prefixed 'the' and held in the genitive by the partitive preposition before it. The 'the' marks the whole stretch of years from which this one hard year is drawn.
