Arabic vocabulary
How to say “their followers” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلِهَذَا كَانَ بِعَضِّ الشُّيُوخِ إِذَا أَمَرَ مُتَّبِعِيهِ بِالتَّوْبَةِ
For this reason, when some of the sheikhs would order their followers to repent,
مُتَّبِعِيهِ — his followers. A noun 'followers' carrying a 'his' ending, so the word means 'his followers', the object of the ordering. The possessor reaches back to the elder doing the ordering, fused onto the noun rather than separate.
