How to say “these” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ الَّذِينَ غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ شَقْوَتُهُمْ
And these are the people whose misery overcame them.
وَهَؤُلاءِ — and these. The wa- opens a new statement, and what follows is a plural 'these' pointing word. With no 'is' in Arabic, the demonstrative serves as the topic, gathering up the people just described as the group now being identified.
