Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they understood it” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَبَلَّغُوا هُمْ بِدَوْرِهِمْ مَا وَعَوُوهُ وَحَفِظُوهُ وَمَا كَتَبُوهُ
And they, in their turn, transmitted what they had understood and memorized and what they had written.
وعوه — they understood it. 'Wa-' coordinates this verb into the relative clause. The verb is past with a plural 'they' subject and an attached '-hu' = 'it' object pointing back to the 'what': 'and they grasped it', one of the things transmitted.
