Arabic vocabulary
How to say “to be able” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فإن استطاع أن لا يغضب فهو الكامل، وإلا فليمسك لسانه ويده
If he can avoid getting angry, he is complete; otherwise, let him restrain his tongue and his hand.
ٱسْتَطَاعَ — he can. A past-tense verb carrying its own 'he' subject inside the condition: he is able. The past shape in a conditional reads timelessly: if he is able.
