Arabic vocabulary
How to say “tongue” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِذَا لِقَاءُهُمْ فَأَخْفِضْ لَهُمْ جَنَاحَكَ وَذَلِّلْ لَهُمْ قَلْبَكَ وَلِسَانَكَ
So when you meet them, then lower your wing for them and humble your heart and your tongue toward them.
وَلِسَانَكَ — and your tongue. The wa- on the front is 'and', joining this noun to 'your heart' so both are objects of the same 'humble', and -ka ('your') is fused to its end. So one word coordinates a second object and marks it as the addressee's. The pairing humbles speech alongside feeling.
