Arabic vocabulary
How to say “humble” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِذَا لِقَاءُهُمْ فَأَخْفِضْ لَهُمْ جَنَاحَكَ وَذَلِّلْ لَهُمْ قَلْبَكَ وَلِسَانَكَ
So when you meet them, then lower your wing for them and humble your heart and your tongue toward them.
وَذَلِّلْ — and humble. This is a command verb, 'humble', built on a pattern that means making something take on a quality, with the 'and' connector (wa-) fused to its front. The wa- joins this order to the previous one, and the verb's causative shape is what gives 'make humble'. So one word connects and commands.
