Arabic vocabulary
How to say “wait (plural)” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَجِهَادٌ فِي سَبِيلِهِ فَتَرَبَّصُوا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ اللَّهُ بِأَمْرِهِ﴾
And striving in His cause, so wait until Allah brings about by His command.
فَتَرَبَّصُوا — so you wait. The fa- here means 'so/then', drawing a consequence, and it fronts a plural command verb, 'wait, hold off', addressed to a group. The command shape plus the plural ending tells a whole audience to bide their time pending the outcome named next.
