How to say “path of him” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم تضمن الله لمن خرج في سبيله لا يخرجه إلا جهاد في سبيلي،
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Allah guarantees for the one who goes out in His path, driven solely by striving for My cause,
سَبِيلِهِ — His path. This is 'path' with 'his' attached, 'his path', the object of 'in'. The suffix points back to God; 'in His path' is a set idiom for acting for God's sake, and the possessor is fused onto the noun's end.
From: Paradise for Those Who Strive →وَجِهَادٌ فِي سَبِيلِهِ فَتَرَبَّصُوا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ اللَّهُ بِأَمْرِهِ﴾
And striving in His cause, so wait until Allah brings about by His command.
سَبِيلِهِ — his cause. This noun for path or cause carries a tail -hi, 'his', and sits in the genitive because the 'in' before it governs it. The suffix points back to God, making 'His cause', so the word names both the arena of striving and whose cause it is.
