And Khadijah bint Khuwaylid was betrothed, and her dowry, both its deferred and its immediate parts, was paid from my wealth,
وَبَذْلِ — and was given. Front wa- is the joiner 'and', linking this to the betrothal clause. The core is a noun built from a verb (an action-as-noun, 'a giving / payment'), so it names the act of paying rather than narrating it with a tensed verb.
