How to say “we saw” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فَشَاهَدْنَا مَجْلِسًا رَجُلٍ لَيْسَ مِنْ عَمْرِوْ وَلَا زَيْدٍ،
Then we saw the gathering of a man who was neither Amr nor Zayd.
فَشَاهَدْنَا — then we saw. A past-tense 'saw' with the object 'us' suffixed and fa- on front. fa- here resumes the narrative ('and then we saw'); the object pronoun is fused on as the thing seen, and the 'we' subject is built into the verb. One word holds connector, verb, subject, and object.
From: Public Preaching →فَشَاهَدْنَا هَوْلًا يَمْلَأُ الأَنْفُسَ إِنَابَةً وَنَدَامَةً،
So we saw a terror that filled the souls with repentance and remorse,
فَشَاهَدْنَا — so we saw. The connector fa- 'so/then' fused to a past-tense verb. Fa- ties this seeing to what came before as a consequence, and the verb carries a 'we' ending built into its shape, so the first-person plural doer needs no separate pronoun.
