How to say “wife of the Prophet” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
عَائِشَةُ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ
Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
زَوْجُ — wife of the Prophet. This noun opens an 'of' pairing with the title that follows: she is the wife of the Prophet. As the first link it drops its own 'the' and draws its definiteness from that following title, which is how Arabic builds 'X of Y' by sheer adjacency, with no word for 'of'.
