وَكَانَتْ إِمْرَأَةٌ تُرْضِعُ إِبْنًا لَهَا مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ،
And there was a woman nursing a son of hers from among the Children of Israel,
إِمْرَأَةٌ — a woman. The feminine subject that the 'was' is waiting for -- 'a woman'. The -un tail marks her as both the subject and indefinite, newly introduced; she is what the existence-clause asserts to have been there.
