How to say “you mock” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ لَا تَسْتَهْزِئْ بِي
He said, "O Abdullah, do not mock me."
تَسْتَهْزِئْ — you mock. A present-tense verb pushed into its shortened (jussive) mood by the prohibition before it, its 'you' subject shown by the prefix. The clipped ending is the grammatical mark of a command not to do something; the preposition after it gives the target.
