عَطَاءُ — Ata. A personal name acting as the subject of the 'used to' frame. It carries the nominative ending, the case for the doer, even though the emphasis particle earlier in the sentence governs the construction; the subject of a kana-frame still surfaces in the nominative. The name continues into a patronymic.
