How to say “companion” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
مُرِيدًا لِسُلُوكِ طَرِيقٍ مُرَافِقُهُ فِيهَا فِي غَايَةِ الْقِلَّةِ وَالْعِزَّةِ،
seeking to follow a path whose companion in it is in the utmost scarcity and honor,
مُرَافِقُهُ — its companion. An active participle used as a noun, 'its fellow-traveller', with -hu ('its') fused on as owner. It is the subject of the little clause describing the path, 'whose companion in it is...'. The 'its' points back to the path, so the companion belongs to that road.
