How to say “following of” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
مُرِيدًا لِسُلُوكِ طَرِيقٍ مُرَافِقُهُ فِيهَا فِي غَايَةِ الْقِلَّةِ وَالْعِزَّةِ،
seeking to follow a path whose companion in it is in the utmost scarcity and honor,
لِسُلُوكِ — to the following of. This is the preposition li- ('to / for the sake of') fused to an action-noun; li- governs it in the genitive. The li- marks purpose, 'in order to tread', and the action-noun names the very act of treading as a thing. With 'desiring' before it, it completes 'desiring to follow'.
