Arabic vocabulary
How to say “continue” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَظَلَّ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ وَلَا يَرَاهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى أَمْسَى،
And that continued throughout the day, and the Prophet did not see him until evening.
وَظَلَّ — and continued. Opens with wa- 'and', adding this on, and the verb is one of the 'kept on being' kind that sets up a lasting state rather than a one-off act. Its 'it' subject is built in, and it frames the situation as continuing.
