Arabic vocabulary
How to say “daughter” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قال الآخر اللهم إنه كانت لي ابنة عم كانت أحب الناس إلىّ
The other one said: 'O Allah, I had a cousin whom I loved most dearly.'
ابْنَةُ — daughter. This noun is the delayed subject of the 'there was for me' frame, so it carries the plain (nominative) ending. It heads a possessive pairing with 'uncle' after it, 'daughter of an uncle', the Arabic way of naming a cousin.
