How to say “excess” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِنَّمَا يُذَمُّ الْمُفْرَطُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ
Rather, only the excess of it is condemned.
الْمُفْرَطُ — the excess. 'al-' = 'the'; subject (nominative) of the passive verb.
From: When Desire Exceeds Its Bounds →والزم الصدق المفرط عن كل بد في كل شيء ،
And adhere to absolute honesty in everything without exception,
المُفْرِطَ — the excessive. This is an adjective, 'the excessive, the unstinting', and the al- makes it definite to match the noun it describes. An Arabic adjective trails its noun and copies its definiteness and object ending; here it agrees with 'the truthfulness' before it.
