How to say “for the one” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَالَ يَقُولُ اللهُ مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا أَشْرَكَ مَعِي فِيهِ غَيْرِي فَهُوَ لِلَّذِي أَشْرَكَ وَأَنَا مِنْهُ بَرِيءٌ
And he said: 'Allah says: Whoever does a deed in which he associates someone else with Me, it is for the one he associated, and I am free from it.'
لِلَّذِي — for the one. The front prefix is a 'for/to' preposition forcing the following relative word into the (genitive) form, marking the recipient: the deed goes to the one. It heads the phrase naming who claims it.
